The handpainting production process is a time-honored tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation. As this traditional production process is no longer possible, the art form will soon be retired, making these beauties truly the last of a long line of history, inspiration, and timeless techniques.
From start to finish, our Handpainted Silk Collection takes a full 7 days to craft, making it unlike any other silk robe you’ll find. These KIM+ONO designs are first hand-sketched onto 100% silk. Then, talented artisans, who’ve passed down this timeless tradition over generations, paint each one of the sketches by hand, before handpainting the rich watercolor onto the silk background, saturating every inch of the fabric. From these handcrafted techniques come original works of wearable art.
Each kimono robe is truly unique, with minor variations from piece to piece, making each silk robe one of a kind. It will arrive on your (or your gift recipient’s!) doorstep hand-wrapped in our traditional Furoshiki cloth gift-wrapping, for an unboxing experience with intention in every detail.

Who knew soothing inner peace came in a luxurious hand-painted silk kimono? Slipping into this luxuriously soft and delicate robe instantly makes me feel beautiful, happy and peaceful all over.
This was a gift from my husband and he seems to enjoy it nearly as much as I do. I notice one reviewer mentioned it doesn't always stayed tied for very long. We've noticed that, too, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.
The colors are rich. The design is beautiful. It drapes so delicately it’s almost like wearing nothing. I love it.
When I received cash as a gift for Christmas, I knew immediately that I was going to finally pull the trigger to purchase myself this silk robe. My order ended up arriving sooner than expected which was awesome. The robe itself is even more beautiful in person and exceeded my expectations. I was torn between two colors; shadow and teal, and decided to go with the teal. I'm glad I did because the colors are vibrant and give the robe that extra burst or beauty.

The crane is a symbol of longevity and peace, and when pictured among florals, a crane stands for prosperity, longevity, and purity.
LOTUS
The lotus is a powerful symbol of enlightenment, the highest form of conscious awareness, and represents inspired self-regeneration and rebirth.
PEACOCK
The peacock stands for immortality — the manifestation of the phoenix rising from the ashes. For us, it also symbolizes love, good will, nurturing, and a kind heart.
