Bringing the Beauty of Botanicals to the Man in Your Life

One of our missions at KIM+ONO is to create a kimono robe for the modern (wo)man. We want to design and handcraft a contemporary piece that makes you (whoever you are) feel incredible in your own skin. We consciously use the parentheses around (wo)man to account for the fact that all kinds of people love to wear these modern botanical kimono robes. While women are centered in the KIM+ONO kimono robe experience, these are truly pieces that can be enjoyed by absolutely anyone.

These charmeuse and silk kimono robes can be confidently worn and enjoyed by the modern man, woman, and non-binary person — we celebrate all of you, no matter who you are. As the world shifts and grows into acceptance, the boundaries between what is “for” a man and what is “for” a woman blurs. There may be certain elements of our kimono wraps and robes that women generally love more than our male customers and vice versa, but there’s also so much fun to be had in exploring those blurry boundaries and celebrating the expressiveness that is unique to you, no matter how you identify.

So today in the journal, we’re highlighting some of the elements of our botanical kimono robes for men that the man in your life may just fall in love with. From the cut to the style to the color, a little luxury can go a long way to brighten anyone’s day. Below are just a few of things our male and male-identifying customers love the most about these kimono wraps and robes. And perhaps the man in your life will love them, to!

Our Kimono Sleeves Don’t Use Shoulder Seams

One thing that makes these designs perfect as men’s kimono robes is that most of our styles lack shoulder seams. The design of the kimono sleeves and shoulders will fit perfectly for every body, especially folks with broader shoulders. You won’t feel restricted or worried about pulling at seams, because there aren’t any! Our male customers love the lack of the shoulder seam so that they can move freely and easily in these men's silk kimono robes. This is one feature that makes it easier to shop for the many you love, as well! You don’t have to worry about getting the perfect fit because his men’s kimono robe will adapt to his body and drape without pulling.

Velvet Trim to Make Him Feel Extra Special

Now and then, you need an extra special gift for an extra special friend. Perhaps your longtime friend from college, or your “work husband”, or another man who deserves to feel confident in his own skin is on your gifting list. The perfect gift for that extra special friend? The extra special gift of velvet trim in our kimono wraps! Our kimono wraps are a huge hit with our male customers, who love the striking combination of contemporary botanicals contrasted with the elegance of black velvet. The kimono sleeves are a bit longer with the addition of the velvet which tends to fit them better, making it a favorite with men! With black velvet on the kimono sleeve and collar, these kimono wraps add a little extra luxury to the already beautiful botanicals. These kimono wraps are also double lined, so while they’re still considered mid-weight, they offer a little extra warmth. With velvet and charmeuse, the styling options are endless. Gift this to your favorite friend and see how he makes it his own.

A Fit and Length that Works for Men

In addition to the ease offered by a lack of shoulder seams, the length of these pieces also offers our male customers some fantastic options. Most of our long lengths are anywhere between 52”-54” from the shoulder to the bottom of the hem, meaning they will fluctuate in length for each person who wears these kimono robes for men. The pieces will fall somewhere on the shin and most likely not be too long for them. For the man in your life who’s a little shorter, we do also have short lengths in every design so they can still find their favorite men’s kimono robe that makes them feel strong and confident.

The T-Shaped Fit and Kimono Sleeves With Room

Perhaps the best thing about these kimono robes for men are the T-shaped kimono sleeves. The traditional T-shape of the fabric, which is inspired by the traditional Japanese kimono, allows the wearer to slip into and out of the piece with ease. For men, who tend to have larger forearms than women, the T-shaped kimono sleeves also allow for maximum comfort and flow. Without shoulder seams, the kimono sleeves may fall a bit longer or shorter on each person — they’re cut to be around a ¾ length sleeve, but that will of course depend on their actual measurements. And in addition to our “one size fits most” collection, we also offer a Curve/Plus Size Collection to accommodate men whose measurements require some extra room. With the T-shaped fit of these pieces, there is no cinching at the waist, but you can always create a more defined waist with the corresponding sash. The options are endless, but the one thing that remains in every size is comfort and ease.

Take a look at our full men’s kimono robe lookbook and find something the man in your life will love. And while you’re at it, don’t forget to find your own favorite. Both of you deserve it!
