Bring More Meaning to Your Bridal Kimono Robe

If you’re a soon-to-be bride planning your big day, then you know that it’s all in the details. There are so many ways that your wedding day choices can reflect your personal tastes, values, and traditions. Amidst the major details like choosing a venue, picking your floral theme, and creating a symbolic wedding outfit, don’t forget that dressing your bridal party while everyone is getting ready can be a wonderful way to thank them for their efforts. Bridal kimono robes are a beautiful way to elevate everyone’s “getting ready” look, and they make for gorgeous photographs that will capture the joy and excitement of the day.

There’s a bridal kimono robe for everyone, and endless ways to mix and match—from the bride to the mother, mother of the groom, bridesmaids, maid of honor, best woman, and more. Not only do silk and charmeuse floral kimono robes photograph beautifully, but they also create a cohesive look amongst the group, whether you choose matching or complementary colors. With easy sizing options, such as one-size-fits-most and plus size, our kimono robes at KIM+ONO can help you bring extra meaning to your big day. Our patterns are all original designs that are first sketched by hand, then saturated in rich watercolors using a traditional paintbrush. Today in the journal, we’ll explore how lilies, or yuri, are flowers that bear special significance and can be incorporated into your wedding day to make it all the more meaningful.

What Lilies Represent in China

In China, lilies are often used in festivals and weddings since they’re tied to the idea of “one hundred years of love.” How romantic! As a symbol of everlasting love, lilies make an excellent choice on your wedding day for evoking the values of harmony and unity. In Chinese culture, folks give lilies as wedding gifts or keep them in their homes to symbolize good fortune in both life and marriage. Edible lilies are also found in Chinese cooking and herbal medicine, and “the dried flowers symbolize wealth during the Lunar New Year.” With so many positive associations, it’s no wonder that lilies are beloved in China as a popular wedding day flower.

What Lilies Represent In Japan

Lilies carry rich meaning not only in China, but also in Japan. There, lilies represent devotion, which gives them special significance for weddings. You’ll see that we’ve named our Silk Yuri Kimono Robe after the Japanese word for lilies. Lilies are found all over the country and are admired in Japanese culture for their beauty. According to a publication from the Japanese International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences, the country boasts 15 native species of lily that generally flower in early April. Wild lilies can be found in almost every region of Japan, from seaside areas to the highlands. With so many beautiful varieties of lilies prevalent in Japan, it was easy for us to choose the yuri to feature in one of our original silk floral robe patterns.

How to Incorporate Yuri Into Your Big Day

The beautiful yuri or lily flower makes a gorgeous addition to your wedding day. Lilies can be worked into the floral design of your wedding in so many ways: in bouquets, over archways, on the table, on your invitations, and our favorite way, on bridal kimono robes. Not only do lilies represent the ideas of devotion and 100 years of love, but they also symbolize royalty and wisdom. We love this association, especially for someone like the mother of the bride! Dressing the people you look up to with admiration and respect in a pattern like our Silk Yuri Kimono Robe is the perfect way to make them feel like royalty.

Kimono Robes Featuring the Lily

For a long kimono robe made of silk, the Silk Yuri Long Kimono Robe offers luxurious elegance and a liquid drape that brings out everyone’s inner confidence. And the great news is that this design is available in a short length as well. It’s breathably soft and versatile, so these women silk robes can have a life of their own that stretches way beyond wedding day festivities. And, because we know that some folks love being able to wash silk at home instead of dry cleaning it, we also created washable silk kimono robes in long and short versions.

We’re happy to offer even more sizing options for the Yuri design: it’s available in plus size washable silk, which combines functionality with effortless beauty. Washable silk is so easy to care for at home: you can wash it on the gentle cycle with cold water and mild detergent, ideally in a delicates bag. Whether you choose a plus size long robe or a short one, the Washable Silk Yuri Kimono Robe in curve/plus size is designed to make you feel as beautiful as you look the moment you slip into it.
