Handpainted Silk Heritage Collection
Our Handpainted Silk Collection represents one of KIM+ONO's most treasured artisan traditions. As the master artisans behind this centuries-old craft begin retiring, these handpainted silk heritage robes will be produced only in limited quantities. Once sold out, they will not be reproduced.
The handpainting process behind each handpainted silk robe is a time-honored tradition passed down through generations of artisans in Silk Village. From start to finish, each robe takes up to seven days to create, making it unlike any other silk robe.
Every heritage-rich design begins as an original botanical illustration, hand-sketched onto 100% silk. Skilled artisans then paint each detail by hand before layering rich watercolor across the silk background, creating exceptional depth, vibrancy, and dimension.
The result is an original work of wearable art that reflects generations of craftsmanship, heritage, and artistry. Because every robe is painted entirely by hand, subtle variations in brushwork and color are a natural hallmark of its authenticity and human touch.
Each robe arrives beautifully wrapped in our traditional Furoshiki cloth gift wrapping, creating an unboxing experience rooted in intention, artistry, and care.
FINAL ARCHIVE SALE - Sold as is. May contain minor artisanal imperfections. No Returns or Exchanges. See website for details.
SYMBOLISM
CHERRY BLOSSOM
The cherry blossom represents renewal. As the flower of the spring, it symbolizes the fleeting nature of life and the botanical embodiment of the idea that “every dawn is a new day”.
CRANE
The crane is a symbol of longevity and peace, and when pictured among florals, a crane stands for prosperity, longevity, and purity.
LOTUS
The lotus is a powerful symbol of enlightenment, the highest form of conscious awareness, and represents inspired self-regeneration and rebirth.
PEACOCK
The peacock stands for immortality — the manifestation of the phoenix rising from the ashes. For us, it also symbolizes love, good will, nurturing, and a kind heart.
